1. Have a better understanding of the performance of feed flavors: the performance of feed flavors that users need to know includes the aroma type, safety and stability, the relationship between dosage and aroma intensity, and perfuming technology.
Choose the flavor that animals are familiar with and like: When changing the flavor product, avoid too abrupt change of flavor, and adopt a gradual or transitional method, which can avoid animals’ rejection of feed with new flavor. At the same time, the traditional preference is taken into account, and the relationship between the flavor of the fragrance agent and the buyer’s psychological feeling is coordinated, so that the customer can know that the quality of the feed is reliable as soon as he smells or feels the fragrance.
2.The addition of feed flavors is not a panacea: the addition of feed flavors is a foil to the feed under the premise of maintaining the quality of the feed, rather than taking the lead. At present, most feed mills only consider nutrition and price in their homemade feed, and put their palatability entirely on feed flavors, ignoring some raw material defects that feed flavors cannot make up for. Some raw materials containing high toxic and harmful ingredients, such as soybean meal containing trypsin inhibitor, raw fish meal containing anti-thiamine factor, etc., are often accompanied by unpleasant tastes such as bitter, astringent, spicy, and hemp. Without selection, treatment and restriction, fragrances cannot perform their effects effectively.
3.Do not attempt to cover spoiled and mildew-contaminated feed with fragrances: doing so can have extremely serious consequences for animals. The mildewed raw materials and feed flavors not only cannot play a masking role, but also increase the bad mildew smell due to the volatilization of the aroma components.
4.Do not premix with raw materials that have antagonistic effects with feed flavors: avoid direct contact between feed flavors and minerals, drugs, etc., to protect the aroma of feed flavors from playing a role in the feed.
5.Form of flavoring agent: flavoring agent also belongs to the category of additives, and its particle size requirements are the same as other additives. The smaller the processed pellets, the more opportunities for contact with the feed pellets and the more effective they are. In addition, there are certain requirements for the selection of auxiliary substrates and processing methods during processing.
6.Avoid too strong fragrance in fragrances: There is a misunderstanding in the application of fragrances. In order to pursue the promotion effect, users think that the stronger the fragrance, the better. In fact, this may have a negative impact on the attractiveness of the feed.
In general, liquid or granular fragrances can be added at any stage from premixing to granulation, but the type and composition of fragrance should be considered. The fragrance of fragrances is mainly caused by volatile oxygenates, and the oxidation rate directly affects the duration of the fragrance. Therefore, medium-acting and long-acting feed flavors can be used for mixing; in the production of pellet feeds, feed flavors that are relatively stable to heat are required; organic acids can be combined with feed flavors, and the particle binder will adsorb the flavoring agent and affect its effect. In addition, the order in which the fragrances are added is also important.
A. Add in the process of making
First, take an appropriate amount of flavoring agent and premix it with powdered grain or its by-products for more than 10 times, so that the flavoring agent is evenly distributed in the feed. Secondly, after all the nutritional and non-nutritive additives enter the mixer, put the pre-mixed flavoring agent from the feeding port. During the granulation process, under the condition of meeting the granulation requirements, the temperature and pressure can be minimized, the loss of the fragrance and the odor of the flavoring agent can be reduced, and the loss of vitamins can also be reduced.
B. Add after granulation is completed
Since the two processes of high temperature and high pressure and rapid air extraction and cooling in the granulation process cause great loss of feed flavors, in recent years, some countries have adopted spray flavoring technology, that is, spray feed flavors into the feed after granulation and cooling. Under the current processing conditions in my country, it can generally be added during the process of falling into the feed bag through the vibrating screen, or it can be added directly during sealing.
C, the combination of internal and external addition
feed flavors with good durability and high temperature resistance can be used as internal feed flavors, and feed flavors with resistance to 60°C temperature and lower price can be used after granulation is completed.
